Getting around

Metro, DiDi taxi, bikes and high-speed trains.

Metro

  • ●Clean, cheap (¥2–10) and signs are in English. Open roughly 6:30–23:00.
  • ●Pay with the Alipay Transport QR code (Alipay → search 'Chengdu Metro'), or buy a ticket from machines with cash.
  • ●Bags go through a security scan at every station.

DiDi (ride-hailing)

  • ●Open Alipay → search 'DiDi' → it works in English and charges your linked card.
  • ●Drivers often call to confirm the pickup spot — reply with a message or show the pickup point on the map.
  • ●Always check the plate number before getting in.

Trains for day trips

  • ●Book on Railway 12306 or Trip.com with your passport. Bring the same passport to the station — it is your ticket.
  • ●Leshan ~1h, Emeishan ~1.5h, Dujiangyan/Qingcheng ~30–60 min (from Xipu station).
  • ●Arrive 30–45 min early: security and passport checks take time.
